SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT:

As of July 1, Gotham City Pilates will merge with Pilates Reforming New York. 
Collectively, we will continue the Balanced Body Education Host Site programming & schedules. 
Joy Karley will continue as your Pilates Instructor Trainer, along with Balanced Body Faculty
Ann Toran & Errol Toran.  Together, we will offer you the same quality training you received at GCP, along with new & expanded course offerings. 

Please note that while our 2011 Balanced Body Education calendar will continue as scheduled, all courses will now be conducted at the PRNY Education Annex located at 54 W. 39th St., 2nd Floor.  This will begin with the Mat 1 course scheduled for June 25-26, 2011.

Prerequisites: 1 year experience teaching movement, anatomy, 20 Pilates Mat class sessions
Mat Iincludes an introduction to the history and principles of Pilates,beginning and most intermediate level exercises with modifications,lectures on class order and programming in a group setting, andguidelines for teaching seniors, pre-, and post-natal classes.

July 8-10, 2011     Reformer I & Movement Principles                                      REGISTER NOW

Prerequisites:2 years experience teaching movement, anatomy, 30 Pilates Reformerclasses or personal training sessions.  Pilates Mat instructor trainingis highly recommended.
Reformer I includes anintroduction to the Pilates Reformer including set up and safety, plusbeginning exercises, program sequencing and teaching tips for groupclasses. By the end of the course you will be able to teach a beginningReformer class or personal training session.

Mat II includes the remaining intermediate and advanced level exercises as well as essential
movement principles and training tips for advancing clients to the higher levels. Pilates for sports specific activities are also covered.

Reformer II includes intermediate exercises and modifications designed for group and individual instruction. Teaching successful classes and sessions to clients at different levels of ability is emphasized. Included are a variety of programs designed to keep your clients inspired.

September 24-25, 2011     Reformer III - Advanced Exercises & Sport Specific Programs

Prerequisite: Reformer II or equivalent
The BBU Trapeze Table/Cadillac certification provides a thorough introduction to Trapeze Table exercises as well as applications for beginning, post-rehabilitation and advanced clients. This training is appropriate for students working with the Allegro Tower of Power, Half Trapeze and Wall Unit as well as those working with full Trapeze Tables. Sequencing programs using multiple pieces of equipment are covered as well as equipment set up, safety and maintenance.

Prerequisite: Reformer II or equivalent
The BBU Pilates Chaircertification includes exercises and variations for both the originalWunda chair and the split pedal Combo chair. The chair is great fordoing strengthening work with athletic clients and as an addition togroup programming in combination with the Mat. This course includesexercises and programming for both personal training sessions andclasses. 
The BBU Barrels certification includes exercisesand variations for the Ladder Barrel, Step Barrel and Pilates Arc. TheBarrels add variety to personal training sessions or classes and add achallenge to a wide variety of exercises useful for working withclients with particular issues.
